Desert Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (DSSAR) is an organization of highly trained volunteers dedicated to responding to the call for assistance by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies as well as other public service agency. DSSAR members are on constant alert and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to search for and effect the rescue of hikers or lost or injured individuals and to respond to other disaster and emergency situations.

DSSAR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which began in 1994 with a group of 8 strong hikers and later incorporated in March, 1995. It is funded by private donations by people like you. Today, DSSAR has evolved into a team of skilled local men and women volunteers. These well respected team members regularly leave their jobs or families, often in middle of the night, to respond to a call for help. They receive no compensation for time given and they sacrifice time each month to attend special training in order to further expand and sharpen their skills. When it comes time to save a life, they are well prepared and eager to turn a potential tragedy into a successful rescue with a happy ending.
